Sandy’s thoughts on how to wear the biggest 2019 fall trends to best meet your personal style needs.
Predictably edgy, but unexpectedly polished and chic, designers moved beyond outwear for their leather collections and explored separates such as blouses, trousers, and more. And, fashion is turning to a more ethical approach towards achieving this trend by offering incredibly tailored vegan options from designers such as Nanushka leading the cause.
Romantic florals in dark hues paired with your favorite distressed sneaker or pair back to your favorite combat boot to underscore the trend. Romance meets grunge and this duo proves opposites really do attract. Designers such as ICONS Objects of Devotions, Golden Goose and See by Chloe are at the helm of this 2019 fall trend.
Into the Wild:
Be spot on with this trend by adding statement pieces in animal or reptile print to your Fall collection. Long coats and capes covered in animal prints add the right touch of drama while animal print shoes and handbags are taking over as the new wardrobe neutral to pair back to most anything in your closet. Designers such as Loeffler Randall and Tory Burch roared the strongest calls to this trend in their Fall collections.
Sustainability is a constant topic of conversation in the fashion industry and designers showcased recycled materials while making explicit pro-earth statements during and after their shows. Using recycled and sustainable materials will likely move beyond trend status and become standard. Designers such as Raquel Allegra’s career evolved out of laborious experiments with oversized vintage tee’s recycled from the LA County Prison System and informed a new beauty within the industry.
Well Suited in Plaids and Satin:
Suits is more than a TV series in 2019. The Fall runways underscored crisp, tailored suiting in solids, plaids, tweed and more. The power shoulder jacket and satin separates curates a feminine approach to historically masculine attire giving a nod to the non-gender specific fashion trends of the recent years. At the Helm, our favorite boss lady, Tory Burch and the power couple behind Nanushka.
Classics with a twist:
Outerwear and other separates that, at first glance, appears to be basic wardrobe staples, but upon closer inspection, there’s a hidden surprise. Classics with a twist, if you will. This includes updated trench coats, fresh denim styling, and punk-inspired adornments on things like suits and bags. LA-based NSF Clothing nailed this trend with their classic Adams denim jacket detailed with plaid woven fabric along the back.
